On the lower right side is my primary AM station.  It consists of the Collins 75A2 receiver (1952) and a Johnson Viking Valiant transmitter (1956-1962).  A Central Electronics MM-2 Modulation Monitor sits between the aforementioned.   In this picture it shows the station in transmit, with a 1Kc sine-wave modulation trapezoid displayed on the MM-2.  The 1kc audio is generated via the MM-2 and feeds into an auxiliary  audio input on the Valiant.

On the shelf above the 75A-2 is a Hallicrafters R-42 Reproducer Speaker used with this station.  The meter on the desk in front of the Valiant is a MicroMatch 262 Power Meter.

The boom microphone is an Electro-Voice Cardax 950.  There is a switch located under the riser that allows me to instantaneously select between three active microphones on the Valiant at any time.  I use one standard three-pin connector on all my desk microphones and simply make short adapter cables that interface them to specific radios.  I have around a dozen microphones scattered around that can be used anywhere in my shack at a moments notice.

The little stack on the upper shelf on the right side is a vintage Single Board Computer (SBC) system.  This is a cage mounted Synertek Systems SYM-1 computer.  It was made starting in 1976 and uses their own Synertek version of the MOS 6502 microprocessor.  The 6502 was also used in the first and early versions of the Apple computers.  My computer has a home made memory extension board and a floppy disk base OS that uses the old Commodore  drive built for their popular VIC20 or C64 computers.  I run this computer via a small Serial-to-Ethernet converter and access it via my network.  This old SYM-1 has been in my life since I bought it around 1981!

The left side of this station position is the  Hallicrafters SX-115 receiver and to it's immediate left is the matching Hallicrafters HT-32B transmitter.  This is primarily a SSB/CW station.  These two have been soul-mates since late-1961 when both were pulled directly off the Hallicrafters assembly line in Chicago.  They were a gift from Bill Halligan himself to Dick Schnell (SK), K9HPD.  My shack is only their second home in over sixty years!

The microphone is a Shure 55S.  As mentioned earlier I use a standard in-line microphone coupling and thus can exchange microphones at will.  On the shelf toward the left side are some of my other vintage microphones, all of which are in operating conditions and can be exchange used throughout the shack.

On the desk, to the left is a Hallicrafters HA-1 T.O. Keyer using with a Vibroplex Deluxe Iambic Paddle.  The HA-1 was sold from 1961 through around 1971!  Quite long for a vacuum tube based keyer.

I use a Hallicrafters R-48 speaker with the SX-115.
